Who We Are
Dr. Angelica Coumanova, PhD, LP
Dr. Angelica Coumanova is a licensed psychologist and the founder of Angel Psychology Services, PLLC. She earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, where she received advanced training in psychological assessment and evidence-based intervention.
Her doctoral research examined theory of mind development in Autistic girls without co-occurring intellectual disability, focusing on the nuanced social and emotional differences that are often overlooked. This work continues to shape how she practices, listening closely for what may not be immediately visible and honoring both strengths and struggles with equal care.
Dr. Coumanova completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in a public school setting and her post-doctoral residency in private practice, where she provided therapy and comprehensive psychological evaluations across the lifespan. She is trained in the ADOS-2 and has extensive experience supporting individuals navigating Autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, and complex emotional challenges.
Her approach is client-centered and relational at its core. She believes meaningful change begins in a space where individuals feel safe, understood, and respected. While the therapeutic relationship is foundational, she integrates evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused Therapy to provide both practical tools and deeper insight. Dr. Coumanova deeply believes therapy should be collaborative and personalized to each individual because each person’s story is special and deserves thoughtful care.
Dr. Coumanova founded Angel Psychology Services from a deeply held belief: people are not meant to fit into boxes, and neither is their healing. She created her practice to be a space where clients can show up fully as they are, without performance or labels defining them, and to feel both supported and challenged. At Angel Psychology Services, Dr. Coumanova strives to meet each client where they are at. Her hope is that through this work, individuals not only find relief from distress, but rediscover their strength, deepen their self-understanding, and move toward the life they are capable of becoming.
Miss Maxine, Dogtor of Psychology
Miss Maxine is Angel Psychology Services’ resident “Dogtor” and therapy dog in training. She greets everyone with tail wags and excitement, but she’s just as skilled at quietly offering support, curling up at your feet during anxious moments or giving space when it’s needed.
She has a special talent for helping everyone that meet her feel safe, opening the door to conversation with comfort. Whether she’s nudging, offering a paw, or simply being a calm presence, Maxine brings warmth, comfort, and a touch of lightness to every session.
She believes that healing is best done with compassion, connection, and sometimes a soft, furry reminder that you’re never alone.
